Biografía
Pamela Price was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was arrested in a civil rights demonstration in 1970 and tracked in the juvenile justice & foster care systems. In 1974, she was accepted to Yale College. In 1977, Price joined the landmark case of Alexander (Price) v. Yale, 459 F.Supp. 1 (D.Conn. 1979), 631 F.2d 178 (2nd Cir. 1980), the first sexual harassment case under Title IX. Price was the only plaintiff to proceed to trial in January 1979. The case established that sexual harassment in education constitutes illegal sex discrimination. In 2012, in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Title IX, Price and her co-plaintiffs in Alexander were acknowledged by the National American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) as one of Nine Most Influential Actors in Title IX’s History (“the Nine”).
Alexander remained the only federal case on the books to challenge sexual harassment in education until 1993. In 1992, as lead counsel for plaintiffs in Patricia H. v. Berkeley Unified School District, et al., 830 F.Supp 1288 (N.D. Cal. 1993), Price mounted a second legal challenge to sexual harassment in education. On July 21, 1993, in the first decision to squarely address the issue, U.S. District Court Judge William H. Orrick ruled that Title IX also prohibits a sexually hostile educational environment. In August 1994, the case settled for $800,000, with a total value of the structured settlement to the minor plaintiffs of $1.8 million.
Price established her own civil litigation practice in June 1991. From 1991 to 2016, Price specialized in racial and sexual harassment cases. She pursued and won numerous sexual harassment cases against the California Department of Corrections (CDC) representing female officers. In 1993, she won a judgment for $1.3 million for a female correctional Sergeant who worked at San Quentin for 16 years. The case was the largest verdict for sexual harassment ever against the CDC at that time. In December 1999, Price won the largest sexual harassment verdict ever recorded in Amador County for $629,000 on behalf of another female correctional officer who worked at Mule Creek State Prison. In April 2003, Price won another $600,000 verdict for sexual harassment on behalf of a female correctional officer, including punitive damages against the Warden and two Associate Wardens of Pelican Bay State Prison in the case of Freitag v. CDC. As a result of the Judgment in Freitag, CDC implemented a groundbreaking statewide policy to address sexual harassment of female officers by inmates. In November 2007, Price was a judgment of $1,025,684 for a female officer sexually harassed at CSP-Solano. In June 2015, a Fresno jury awarded $565,000 to a female officer sexually harassed at Corcoran State Prison.
In 1999, Price obtained the largest settlement for a sexual harassment case ever against the City of Oakland for $825,000 on behalf of a young female employee identified only as Alice A. In February 2001, Price settled a second sexual harassment case against the City of Oakland for $750,000 on behalf of a minor victim identified only as Tonsa B. of the same City supervisor.
Price made legal history in Morgan v. Amtrak, 232 F.3d 1008 (9th Cir. 2000), 536 U.S. 101, 112 S.Ct. 1516 (2002), by winning the appeal of a defense verdict first in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal and then successfully arguing her case in the U.S. Supreme Court. For her groundbreaking efforts in Morgan, Price was named the 2002 California Lawyer Attorney of the Year in Employment (CLAY Award). In May 2004, Price won a $500,000 verdict on behalf of Abner Morgan after a ten (10) year battle against Amtrak. Price also made legal history with precedent-setting decisions in Jones v. K-Mart, et al. (1998) 17 Cal.4th 3298, Nicole M. v. Martinez Unified School District (N.D.Cal. 1997) 964 F.Supp. 1369 and Freitag v. Ayers, 468 F.3d 528 (9th Cir. 2006), cert. denied, 549 U.S. 1323, 127 S.Ct. 1918 (2007).
In December 1993, and again in December 2001, Price received the Charles Houston Bar Association's Clinton W. White Advocacy Award for her achievements in civil litigation. In 2003, Price received the California Association of Equal Rights Professionals’ Founders Award of Achievement and Flyaway Production’s 10 Women Campaign Award. In 2004, Price was named one of the top fifty Northern California female “Super Lawyers” by San Francisco Magazine. Her article, Eradicating Sexual Harassment in Education, was also published in 2004 in New Directions In Sexual Harassment Law, MacKinnon & Siegel (Eds.), Yale Press (2004).
In 2016, she was honored as a “Champion of Justice” by the National Lawyers Guild San Francisco Chapter at its Annual Dinner.
Price’s victories at trial and large money judgments and settlements have become legend in the Bay Area legal community. She has received numerous awards from local, statewide and national organizations for her commitment to social justice, community service and excellence in advocacy for her clients. Price has been honored three times with Certificates of Special Congressional Recognition (2003, 2015 & 2016) by Congresswoman Barbara Lee, and received multiple Certificates of Recognition from the California Assembly and Resolutions of Appreciation from the California Senate.
In May 1999, Price established the Ida B. Wells Holding Company and purchased her own office building in downtown Oakland. She has since purchased and sold a second office building in the heart of downtown Oakland, one of only a handful of women business owners to reach that milestone. Price joined the Board of Directors of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights in San Francisco in 2006. In 2007, Price served as the Interim Executive Director. She went on to serve two volunteer terms as the Co-Chair of the Board of Directors, and currently serves as the Director of Special Projects where her primary responsibilities include analysis of racial justice issues and discrimination cases, education equity issues, juvenile justice advocacy, development support and fundraising initiatives.
Since 2014, Price has served as the appointed Political Education Co-Chair of the Richmond/Contra Costa Chapter of Black Women Organized for Political Action (BWOPA). She also serves as BWOPA’s Legislative Consultant. In 2014, she ran an inspiring campaign for Assembly District 15.

Biografía
I have lived in the Bay Area since the late 60’s when I was an activist at San Francisco State College during the student strike for Ethnic Studies. In 1973, as a BART train operator and an active union member, I moved to Oakland where I began my family and subsequently raised my two kids as a single mom after my divorce during which I was also an active public school parent and member of several community groups.
I have been staff to 2 city council members, a member of the Alameda County Labor Council, a teacher of middle and adult school, a shop owner and am currently an elected member of the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee while running a local Business Improvement District.
I am also the local politics coordinator for the Wellstone Democratic Renewal Club and the political action chair of the Block by Block Organizing Network, working on affordable housing issues, police accountability issues and the no coal in Oakland movement. I am active on social media including a you tube channel and my own blog.

I’m a grassroots progressive. I have honed my political analysis over the years and in a nutshell, I would like to see radical change in how we organize our society but, as a single mom, I am interested in practical solutions that help people get through their day-to-day lives-affordable housing that still encourages local business development, good government measures like independent police commissions while working with departments on local recruiting and training in community awareness.
My political soap box-we progressives need to pay attention to local politics and build from the bottom up, not hope that working from the top down will bring a change. To that end I write a blog that explains what is happening at the city and county level in terms of the issues being discussed and who is driving them. See DrakeTalkOakland.com for more.

Filosofía política
Democrats must fight displacement to hold on to out base.
It has become evident that gentryfication and displacement is in full display in Alameda County, and out response as a political party has been tepid. Democrats must reclaim the mantle of fighting for the people, standing up to interest that have resulted in the greatest migration of African Americans since the 1930's.
No longer can we hide the fact that we are losing the very people the Democratic party has depended on for 40 years, to create a climate of understanidng and principled politcs, that until very recently has been the vangard of the left in the united states.
An Oakland removed from it's radical traditions is an empty shell, lets make sure we hold on to the community that remains. let put tenants, seniors and families first, we need strong rent control, a jobs program, a civilian police review board with real authority.
Plenty of evidence points to a significat shift in populations from Alameda County to Contra Costa, in particular from Richmond, Oakland, Alameda, San Leandro to far east communities in the extended bay area such as Antioch, Pittburg, Bay Point and further points in the delta and central valley.
This displacement is documented by several direc action and non-profit groups, and the work by SF eviciton mapping project and Causa Justa - Just Cause have been fundamental in providing empirical evidence of the crisis, while voting patterns is not a big concer to a family having to move away to afford their home, the Central Commitee of the Democratic party should be worried as we lose more and more of the commited volunteers and dedicated voters that have made us a progressive stronhold in a country flirting with fascism under the banner of "Make America Great Again"
DEMOCRATS must not allow real state developers and speculators to destroy the work we have done.
Rent Control is a proven solution, it creates the stability for tenants and that translates into strong community institutions.
Living Wage can guarantee that anyone who works 40 hours a week can afford their rent, food and basic supplies.
End Police Militarization, the budgetarial weight of numerous civil lawsuits is cripling our cities, we must reform our police forces.

Biografía
I’m passionate about education and pledge to keep student well-being and fiscal responsibility at the forefront of my work on the Board.
As your Boardmember, my priorities have been to close the achievement gap, deliver quality education to our incarcerated youth, establish better communication between the county and our school districts, and ensure efficient delivery of services with prudent fiscal management.
I’ve worked with local districts to help them meet the requirement to provide equal education to all students and led a Board Task Force focused on closing the achievement gap in our schools.
For 23 years, I’ve actively educated and mentored youth from my work as a teen director for the Boys and Girls Club to helping student athletes at my alma mater University of California, Berkeley. I’ve worked in Oakland schools as a teacher, and after seeing that my students needed more than books, I founded an organization that has fed more than 23,000 families during the holidays.
Our students need and deserve a committed representative. I’ll continue working with local districts, community organizations, faculty, staff and families to pursue programs that serve all of our students. I respectfully ask for your vote.
