Biography

Eric Guerra is a current Sacramento City Councilmember, community volunteer, policy advocate, husband and father. Eric’s life has been defined by hard work and determination. As a farmworker, an immigrant, and a graduate of Sacramento State, Eric worked hard to get where he is today, but he had a lot of help along the way. He knows that people sometimes simply need a hand up from those who believe in them.

Eric knows first-hand what it takes to organize a community behind issues and how to find consensus among a broad coalition of people. From his time at Sacramento State to the Council dais, Eric has made a difference on issues that affect the everyday lives of people including tackling quality of life issues, helping working families, supporting small businesses, protecting the environment and improving transportation. Eric has called Sacramento home for over 20 years serving as the Governor’s appointee on the CSU Board of Trustees, President of the Tahoe Park Neighborhood Association, Chairman of the Sacramento County Planning Commission and President of the Sacramento State Alumni Association. He graduated from Sac State with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a Master of Public Policy and Administration. With over 18 years working in the Legislature, Eric knows how to get things done. He lives with his wife and sons in the Tahoe Park neighborhood.
