There really are no easy solutions to an agricultural economy based on pre- global climate change water availability. California already is the most dammed state in regard to its snow-fed river systems. There are simply no more rivers to be dammed, from diminishing snowpacks less and less capable of sustaining their water impoundments. Colorado River water, originating in western upsteam watersheds, is already spoken for in multi-state compacts. Absent commitment to build low elevation impoundments capable of holding wattershed rainwater, agriculture will likely have to transition to crops requiring far less water, and water districts must develop ever more strict water conservation measures.

It should be obvious to any sentient person that America's immigration laws are at the very least inadequate to handle current immigration numbers. I will work towards any solution for immigration that provides lawful, equitable access of immigrants seeking citizenship and/or political asylum. I will also work towards solutions that address root asylum causes plaguing our southern neighbors, before they become problems on America's doorstep.

My running as a Democrat independent of party dogma, at this perilous moment in time for democracy, in an overwhelmingly red congressional district, ought to be enough indication that my entire being is about the preservation of democracy. I support one person one vote, mail-in voting, and the elimination of the anachronistic electoral college. Additionally, one of the primary goals of public schooling ought to be the preparation of an educated, critically thinking populace.

The lack of energy independence is a clear and present danger both within and without America. It is a inarguable national security imperative that America must free itself from the evanescent bonds of exhaustible fossil fuels, including foreign oil. Current geopolitical realities have once again focused national priorities on the necessity and eventuality of renewable energy production. Concerted efforts along the lines of the 1960s “space race” national commitment are required to transition technologies and workers from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Legislation assisting private industry and consumers in completing this transition will be paramount to these efforts. Meaningful incentives and rebates appropriate to  low and middle income earners, must be enabled for individual solar/wind net-grid installations and electric vehicles.
