Biography

Tim Robertson is the leading voice for working families in the North Valley.  For the last nine years, Robertson has led the North Valley Labor Federation, where he fights for a level playing field for workers and enactment of common-sense policies to make where we live better.

 

Robertson has collaborated with local legislators and community leaders to enact legislation at all levels of government to build infrastructure, expand health care and create jobs.  Robertson serves on three county-wide Workforce Development Boards to prepare people for jobs, help people advance in their careers and build a skilled workforce. 

 

As a member of a Stanislaus County executive committee, Robertson is working with stakeholders and leaders to produce a county-wide economic growth plan.  Robertson also works with local school boards to connect students to career technical education opportunities and serves on two county-wide United Way boards. 

 

Robertson is an elected member of the Keyes Community Services District, where he has first-hand knowledge of the challenges to meeting the water needs of the Valley. 

 

Robertson lives in Stanislaus County and enjoys hiking with his rescue dog Daisey, barbecuing, writing, basketball, and old detective movies.

What programs, proposals, projects, or legislation would you support to meet the water needs of all Californians?
Answer from Tim Robertson:

As an elected member of the Keyes Community Services Board, I oversee the delivery of reliable and affordable clean water to users while protecting public health and the environment.  I opposed transfer of our water to southern California and will fight for our fair shre of the $8 billion available for water storage and clean water project funding approved by voters in a ballot initiative, Proposition 3 in 2018.  The need for infrastructure to capture and store water is urgent.  This includes capturing storm runoff, recycling wastewater, and building desalinization plants.  

Describe what proposal(s) you would support to alleviate the shortage of affordable housing for middle and low income people in California?
Answer from Tim Robertson:

Ensure state funding for affordable housing makes its way to rural communities. 

Work with cities and continue to streamline development and ensure the inclusion of workforce housing.

What programs or strategies would you suggest to meet the educational needs of young, low-income Californians?
Answer from Tim Robertson:

Ensure universal access to childcare and early childhood education
