Even while dealing with immediate crises, school boards must find time for long-term strategic planning. What are the three biggest challenges facing the San Dieguito Union High School District in the next ten years, and how would you use this office to help prepare for (and meet) those challenges?
Answer from Lea Wolf:
The three major issues at SDUHSD: (1) Lack of administrative accountability (2) Lack of fiscal management (3) Lack of integrative curriculum (4) Failing to prioritize students needs (5) Infighting among special interest groups for power and control (6) Intense polarization among the special interest groups (7) Less than 5% of the budget is allocated for students programs and extracurricular How to bring about change ? We must do an extensive audit of SDUHSD finances, programs, personnel and resources. Based on the audit: (1) Implement systems to increase transparency and ensure accountability (2) Hire, fire, and retrain personnel (3) Introduce programs and curriculum based on the deficiencies in the district and students' needs. (4) initiate various committees to help the board make high quality decisions

My Priorities and Pledge

My Top Priorities and Pledge

Put the Best Interest of Students First!

2020-2021 has been a time of intense controversy stemming from political agendas and special interest groups that are corrupting our school systems and hurting our students and community.

Our schools are facing unprecedented challenges from an illiberal ideology that filters social relations and outcomes through the lens of race crystalized as Critical Race Theory.

If elected, I will work hard to unite the SDUHSD community members from diverse racial, socio-economic, cultural, religious, and political backgrounds to make sure this divisive ideologies do not take root in our schools.

  • Fight to keep schools open safely for in person instruction
  • Oppose Critical Race Theory! Promote personal responsibility and civic studies
  • Implement systems to ensure transparency, accountability, and proper governance
  • Commit resources to mental health, social emotional, and life skills programs

Proven Track Record |

I have a proven track record, proven qualifications, and proven credentials to priortize students interst above any special interest group and lead with courage and principles to institute systems to bring proepr governance.

I have lived in SDUHSD for over 20 years and I am a parent of former SDUHSD student. Just like you I care about the education system and kids. I am focsued on transforming our schools so students enjoy their learning experience.

The folloiwng showcase my work, qualifications and proven track record:

Speak out against any trustees who prioritize the teacher union's interest over students

Just recently, I’ve worked closely with community members to gain a super majority board that acts in students’ best interests in mind. We gathered facts and data while I employed my knowledge of the public school system to initiate the Recall Gibson Petition. Trustee Gibson resigned due to our recall petition.

Outspoken on the conflict of interest among the special interest groups

Advocate, guide, and support students and their families with various educational matters

From 2018 through 2021, I have supported families with diverse queries in education codes, Title IX, and guided them through various processes. I became an empowering resource for many community members, using my knowledge of the system to educate and guide them toward favorable outcomes. For example, I developed A Parent’s Guide to File Grievances.

My track record speaks for itself. I’ve advocated extensively for students who were harshly punished in the district. From 2018 through 2021, I spoke at board meetings and helped behind the scenes whilst offering resources and support to families who reached out to me. I was also responsive to complaints filed on and met with various SDUHSD administrators on behalf of students. I suggested ways to implement restorative justice methods, educational segments, and training to prevent abusive behaviors.

Some articles:

Run petitions, campaigns, and protests to advocate for students rights

Initiated, organized, and run informative campaigns to protect student’s rights and their well-being

In 2019, I spearheaded a petition that informed students and their families of their right to opt-out of California State exams. That year, the CA State exams were being administered at the same time as AP exams, causing immense emotional distress and anxiety to students. Hundreds of opt-out forms were downloaded.

Written and submitted various reports and solutions on improving SDUHSD

In 2019, I wrote a report on How to Improve Outcomes at SDUHSD, which I submitted to Dr. Haley and Dr. Gothold. The report is still relevant and can be served to  brainstorm solutions for improving outcomes in a long-term.

Authored extensive reports on improving accountability, transparency, and proper governance

I’ve spearhead an integrative solution of software and services to increase accountability and transparency in organizations. In addition, I’ve authored several reports and blogs addressing the detrimental impact on our communities and children due to lack of accountability.

Educate stakeholders on the Underground Practices that Normalized Child Abuse

I developed an extensive report and about to publish a book on the Underground Practices that Normalize Child Abuse, which identifies 16-tactics used by school officials to cover up sexual assault, bullying, racism, and various harassment cases. I educate parents and community members of these practices so they can manage these situations constructively and prevent further misconduct.

A servant of the community

Before and during the pandemic, my support for the SDUHSD community has been unyielding. Over the past few years, I became a resource for community members to understand the SDUHSD culture and help reopen the schools safely.
