Biography

The daughter of immigrant parents from Mexico, Leticia was born in San Diego and grew up in southeast San Diego County.

Leticia attended local public schools, City College amd graduated from San Diego State University.  Leticia's developed and implemented community outreach and engagement campaigns in some of San Diego's most underrepresented communities.   She worked to build up the affordable housing stock, increase civic engagement and train youth and recent immigrants how to access resources.

Leticia worked at the San Diego County Alternate Public Defender's Office ensuring representation in the justice system for everyone.  Thereafter, Leticia attended law school at Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

In law school, I managed the Department of Justice Domestic Violence Programs and developed a Spanish speaking outreach program. Providing the right resources is essential during a crisis and ensuring equity in society is the only way to build a strong future. in the Assembly, I will be a fierce advocate for an equitable California that ensures educational and economic opportunities for all.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I've spent my career advocating for working people-fighting to improve education, expand healthcare, strengthen our communities and ensure equity in the workplace. I'm running for the Assembly to continue that work-building a tomorrow for all.

The COVID-19 pandemic has hit us all hard.  We need a strong economic recovery plan that lifts everyone, from providing loans and grants for small businesses to job training and skill development for workers and a common sense strategy that brings children back to school safety.

I began my career at local non-profits where I worked in some of San Diego's most underrepresented communities teaching people how to advocate for themselves. I'll use those skills to get our communities back on track and address our ongoing housing affordabilityand homelessness crises.
