Experience

Biography

As a life long resident of the community and Sonora High School graduate, I am running for this position to promote the education provided by Sonora High School. We have an excellent teaching and administrative staff. I would promote vocational education and agricultural education as I feel there is a great need for this in our community.  The retention of the Wild Cat Ranch is a must for our students and a great asset for our community.  We must do everything possible to retain the education they provide.  I have been a businessman in Sonora for over 50 years (Vic's Towing, Inc.) and I feel I can be an assest in the operation of Sonora Union High School.  My main concern in running for this position is the support of our administration, teaching staff and our students.  Our students are our future.

As a business owner (Vic's Towing, Inc. in Sonora) for 53 years, and as a law enforcement reserve officer (in Tuolumne County) for 20 years, a past President of the Columbia College Foundation, and a past Vice President of the California Tow Truck Association, I will add value to the Sonora High School Board. My value comes from having graduated from Sonora High (class of 1965), and attending Modesto and then Columbia College. This is the basis for my first hand knowledge of our community and its unique educational needs.  I have maintained my involvement in this community's educational needs through my past membership and Presidency of the Columbia College Foundation, my current membership in Sonora Sunrise Rotary, and as member of the Sonora Historic Dome advisory commitee. I was also a member of the advisory commitee for the selection of the new superindent of Sonora High School in 2020.

My skills have been applied to furthering projects for the educational community in Sonora since the day I graduateed from SHS. I have also enjoyed bringing students into my business to learn mechanical skills and the skills involved with simply learning to work. My unique business skill set has found numerous applications in each of these commitments.
