I am the proud mother of two middle schoolers (La Entrada) and a transformational school leader with 20 years of experience in public education. I grew up in Los Angeles (but I cheer for the Warriors too). I have served as a teacher in Los Angeles and Oakland, and as an administrator in Castro Valley, San Bruno and Menlo Park. I am currently a public school principal in Sunnyvale where I am proud to be leading trauma informed restorative justice programs.
Here are some of the things I’m most proud of accomplishing thus far:
- Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, USC
- Masters in Education Administration with an emphasis in Social Justice, Berkeley
- Masters in Negotiation Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding, CSU Dominguez Hills
- Led the only high school in the county to have equitable representation of students of color in International Baccalaureate (IB) courses.
- Successfully introduced a required Ethnic Studies course at the high school level.
- Moved a high school to full inclusion for Special Education, allowing students with various learning abilities to receive instruction in the general education setting while bringing the Special Education personnel to those classroom settings.
- Led the growth of our Latinx Parent Organization from 8 to 80 on a consistent basis.
- Recognized as a Gold Ribbon School for our work on Professional Learning and our Smaller Learning Communities
