Biography

My husband and I moved our young family to  Hillsborough  in 1996.  Our two children graduated from West and Crocker Schools. Over the years, I have been active in community service locally at our Hillsborough Schools Foundation, volunteer at West School, served as a member of the West School Disaster Preparedness Team,  and served on the Board of Directors of San Mateo High School Foundation.

I am a practicing Internal Medicine Physician in San Mateo County since 1989, and  Board Certified as a Diplomate from the American Board of  Internal Medicine. I now serve as an Independent Medical Evaluator, consulting on complex medical cases. Previously, I was a Staff Physician in Internal Medicine at One Medical Group in Burlingame, and before that I was a Physician Advisor Consultant for Medicare Compliance. I have served on numerous boards of directors in the medical field, including the California Medical Association.

I graduated from Yale University School of Medicine and received a B.A. degree in Biochemistry from Skidmore College. While I was in medical school, I  worked with the CDC in Sierra Leone, combating an epidemic of “Lassa Virus”, and I have remained a field supporter of “Doctors Without Borders” since graduating from medical school.

I have been active in community service.  I serve as a volunteer physician at the Samaritan House Free Clinic and serve on the Samaritan House Board of Directors.  I have also served on the Board of Directors for San Francisco Village, helping older San Franciscans continue to live lives of purpose and meaning, as they age in their homes.

I believe my medical expertise will help the town develop a best practice response to the Covid-19 pandemic, and to advise residents on concerns that arise from this health crisis. I am also informed on other urgent issues facing the town of Hillsborough, and I intend to work with residents and local leaders to address these issues.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

My political philosophy centers around working with neighbors and residents to set out the agenda that addresses the need of the town of Hillsborough. I strongly believe that the best solutions for unresolved issues are found within the community, and it informs the local leaders of the town. I believe in diversity of opinions and perspectives, and I will explore more opportunities for our residents to be heard and listened to and will seek feedback on recommendations. I realize the challenges of the Pandemic has created a sense of isolation in all our lives, and we must continue to look for creative ways to hear and to listen to everyone.

There are several urgent issues facing our town, such as cell tower infrastructure, sewer and storm drainage infrastructure, supporting our schools during the pandemic, enhancing our efforts on wildfire abatement, taking local measures to protect our environment to mitigate greenhouse gas emission, while at the same time delivering a balanced and sustainable budget.  The urgency of these issues requires our community to work together and implement solutions that will improve the lives of all residents in Hillsborough.
