Catherine is a licensed attorney currently working as a business and legal consultant. She earned her J.D. in California and her Political Science and Business Degrees in Maine. She is married and her son, D.J., daughter-in-law, Cheryl, and three grandchildren live in Maine, which was her home until 29 years ago when she moved to California.
She has worked in various industries in Maine and California for over 45 years. Her practice has primarily consisted of litigation support and the environmental and corporate law areas. Catherine was also an Adjunct Professor of Appellate Advocacy at Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco.
She is a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Foster Children in San Mateo County and is a member of the Advisory Board for the California State University East Bay Paralegal Program.
Her past public service commitments include service as:
1. Chair and Co-Chair of the Citizens' Advisory Committee of the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority.
2. Served as Judge for the Tri-Valley Youth Court program in Pleasanton.
3. Past Treasurer of the Alameda Chapter of the League of Women Voters.
4. Supports Bay Area causes such as the Diabetic Youth Foundation and the Freedom House.
As the current Mayor of Foster City, Catherine serves on several countywide initiative committees including: Long-Range Strategic Planning Committee and the Silicon Valley Recovery Roundtable. Both committees were formed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery efforts, as well as strategic planning for emergencies and secondary disasters that may occur during the pandemic situation.
