I now feel that the time has come for me to seek elected office. Having grown up in East Palo Alto and been involved in the community throughout my life, I know the challenges in our community, and I understand the needs of our people. I want to bring fresh ideas and positive change to East Palo Alto by running for city council.

As a graduate of San José State University, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in Biological Science and Chemistry.  In the biological science graduate program, my research has been published in top biomedical journals. I’ve previously worked at the Stanford Research Institute, Merck and have taken advanced courses at Harvard Medical School. Currently, I work as a Data Scientist at Genentech, where I collaborate to advance digital pathology and personalized healthcare projects that help physicians accurately diagnose disease and match patients to effective therapies. In addition to work, I’ve been an advocate for programs such as BUILD that teach entrepreneurship to high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them attend college.

My goal as a council member is to improve quality of life and housing security for all members of our community. I will work on initiatives that help bring jobs and businesses to East Palo Alto that will hire and employ those within our community, focus on opportunities that fight poverty and homelessness, invest resources into our youth, seniors and families that make East Palo Alto a cultural place, and approve of developments that increase access to affordable and low-income housing.

In the presence of the Covid-19 crisis, it is now more important than ever to have competent and committed leadership as many residents face displacement. I’m asking for your support and your vote in this upcoming election. I look forward to the honor of serving our community of East Palo Alto.
