I grew up in South San Francisco and attended public school, graduating from El Camino HS in 1983. I was active in sports and started working at a young age (paper route at 12 and vendor at Candlestick Park at 15). I received a BA in Broadcast Communications at SFSU, where I was also a member of the wrestling team, earning All-American honors athletically and academically. I moved to Brisbane when I was 24, buying a home at 500 Sierra Pt Rd. A few years later, I created a promotional products business: Red Dog Productions. It was also around this time that I met the love of my life, Karen. We married in 1995 and started a family two years later. In 2001, I joined the Brisbane Planning Commission, serving for two terms. In 2008, I decided to sell our business and go back to school to earn a Masters in Urban Planning. As I was looking at schools, I started volunteering for the Obama Campaign, later taking a position in St Louis County, MS. Instead of going back to school, I changed course and ran for Brisbane City Council in 2009, where I successfully won a seat. The past eleven years on the Brisbane City Council has been an honor to serve our community. I have led efforts to move forward with a new library, create the Sustainability Framework for the Baylands, establish priority-based budgeting for how the City spends taxpayers money. I've taken an active role in dealing with difficult issues such as keeping the City solvent during the great recession and putting forth efforts to keep our community safe during the pandemic. The end of Oct will be my 31st year living in Brisbane. I can't think of a better place to raise a family, run a business, and participate as a public servant.

I believe in order to be a successful public servant, you have to be driven to help others, be a good listener, and be open minded to all points of view. Public decisions should be viewed through the lens of sustainability, where the environment, social equity, and economics are all interwoven on equal terms so that the best policies are adopted. Creating change, no matter how righteous and just, will require patience and determination to succeed. The destiny of our City should never be decided by a handful of people, but rather by a diverse collection of community members coming together to share ideas and aspirations for how our future should unfold.

Biography
We live in a special town. Whether hiking up San Bruno Mountain, enjoying the Farmers Market or pulling together as a community to provide meals for seniors impacted by COVID, we have much to celebrate in this beautiful community. I love this town -- and would love to give back by serving on the Brisbane City Council.
I have a deep love for the beauty of Brisbane and our collective ‘backyard’ – San Bruno Mountain. After learning of plans to allow the building of up to 30 new residences in the Lower Acres, a group of fellow residents formed Save the Acres, a non-political action group. We are concerned with the safety of drilling into the fragile soil and displacing native wildlife. We fear for the safety of all residents in case of a wildfire. We also are concerned about additional traffic on all roads leading up to the development – especially the ‘hairpin turn’ at the corner of Glen Park and Humboldt.
I’d like us to keep a watchful eye on High Speed Rail plans and the impact on quality of life, as well as looking to initiatives that will revitalize our Downtown while supporting our local merchants.
My goal is bringing fresh perspective to the table and preserving the character of Brisbane and the natural backdrop of San Bruno mountain that we all cherish. I humbly seek your support in the upcoming election.

The power of unity and solidarity will guide us to build a stronger bond within our community. Working together as one voice will help us overcome hardships and obstacles such as racial injustice, systematic racism, and help clear the way for something greater to come. If we do not take an active role by learning about how racism and inequality impact our communities, then racism and inequality will continue to affect us all.
The racial injustice and systematic racism, indeed have enlightened some, empowered others and overall brought the fact of the matter at hand, that “Black Lives Matter, “which echoes around the world and people are working toward greater social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion for all. Moreover, we are confronting the pandemic of Covid-19, economic displacement, social injustice, and personal stress that threatens the well-being of humans. Many of these crises are interrelated and are exacerbated by the lack of leadership. We must work together in the interest of the community, city, and nation to appropriately respond to current social and political challenges of our time. We will then be able to create positive change in our society, guided by our own principles, so we can create a harmonic community and environment for all.
I would like to continue to build a better Brisbane by listening to, frequently taking the pulse of the community, and amplifying the voices of our community, so everyone can be heard. I will work tirelessly to drive positive change. Together, we have the opportunity to build a brighter Brisbane for our children and I am committed to help make that a reality.
