My Top 3 Priorities

  • We must preserve our watershed lands for our families and future generations. The public should have access to these lands with science-based safeguards to protect against damage to the environment.
  • The primary mission of MMWD is to ensure that we have quality, clean drinking water while keeping water rates as low as possible. Budget priorities must reflect this goal.
  • MMWD does a lot of good work, but it operates in a rather “closed” environment - the Board, staff, consultants, and advocates know what it does. I want to use my many community contacts to share information about MMWD activities.

Biography

Key issues that are important to me in my campaign for Marin Municipal Water District Board are:

·       We must preserve our watershed lands for our families and future generations.  The public should have access to these lands with science-based safeguards to protect against damage to water safety and the environment.  My extensive experience in local government including co-chairing the City of San Rafael 2020 General Plan Update and service on the Measure E Critical Facilities Committee demonstrates my ability to strike a balance among differing positions when making decisions. I know how local governance works and how to get things done.

·       The primary mission of MMWD is to ensure that we have quality, clean drinking water while keeping water rates as low as possible.  Budget priorities must provide for replacement of aging pipes and stepped up work with the state, federal and county agencies that also manage watershed lands to protect against wildfire and plan for climate change.  We can’t fairly ask fighters to protect our lives, homes and property if we haven’t done our best at planning for wildfires.

·       MMWD does a lot of good work, but it operates in a rather “closed” environment --- the Board, staff, consultants, and advocates know what it does.  I want to use my many community contacts to share information about MMWD activities.  I want to bring MMWD to the ratepayers, sharing and interpreting Board actions.  I will reach out and send emails to the many people I know through my years on the San Rafael Planning Commission and Recreation and Park Commission, my service as president of the San Rafael Little League, St. Raphael’s CYO Basketball Program, and the Coleman and Davidson Middle School Dads’ Clubs.   I will also reach out to stakeholders such as bikes and conservation groups.  Anyone may sign up to receive these newsletters at https://www.lubamersky4mmwd.com/

The San Rafael community is very important to me.  I coach football and track at San Rafael High School.  I try to coach more than athletics - I want to help young people grow up to be good citizens. Vote Lubamersky for MMWD Board.
