Councilmember, District 1, Santa Barbara City Council — Elected position (2015–current)
Biography
I attended college at Stanford University and, after teaching high school, I went to law school at UC Berkeley (Boalt Hall). I have worked for the LA City Attorney, the CA Attorney General, the Santa Barbara County Counsel, and the United Nations as a war crime prosecutor. More recently, I have worked in leadership roles for non-profits such as California Rural Legal Assistance, Legal Aid Foundation, and New Civic Forum.
Councilmember Dominguez has a love of learning that comes from growing up watching his parents study as they earned college degrees from the California State University. Jason carried that love of learning into his career and has taught law courses at the Santa Barbara College of Law, the Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and American University's Washington College of Law.

Political Beliefs
Political Philosophy
In my last four years at city hall, I have been a pragmatic leader, who puts the interests of my district and city residents first, not special interests. My job experience as a teacher, non-profit leader, and ten years as a government attorney has taught me the importance of standing up for what is right. Our city faces many challenges, but I will continue to be an independent voice fighting for common-sense solutions that benefit all residents.
