One of the most important endorsements of any candidate are from our fellow residents who have successfully served on City Council. These are the people who know what it takes to effectively serve on Council to get things don.

I am endorsed by nine current and former Mayors. Two of them, Steve Napolitano and Richard Montgomery, sit on the City Council now. Others include Russ Lesser, Bob Holmes, Tim Lilligren, Joyce Fahey, Nick Tell, Jim Aldinger and Walt Dougher. While serving on Council they built consensus with fellow Councilmembers which was critical to their success. They understand what it takes to be an effective city councilmember. They know me and have seen me work. They know I can do the job and have staked their good names and works supporting me. 

·     Manhattan Beach residents value family, home, safety, small-town living, education and quality of life. I have always worked hard to preserve and protect these shared core values.

• I’ve lived in Manhattan Beach for 34 years, longer than any candidate, and, with my wife Nancy, raised our children, Jimmy and Taylor, here.
• Over all those years I have volunteered extensively in our schools and city including PTA, School Site Council, Bond Measures, Traffic Safety and “Stranger Danger” Programs, Facilities Planning, Youth Sports  and, currently, I’m a Parking and Public Improvements Commissioner.
• I’ve worked with fellow residents to resolve tough issues and have a reputation as someone who can work with a team and get things done
• I have relevant, current and full-time business experience to tackle the financial and technical challenges facing Manhattan Beach. I’ve been trained by top companies like AT&T, NEC Technologies, McGraw-Hill and currently work for Keller Williams Commercial Real Estate. I have the time, temperment and talent to help prioritize and solve the many challenges facing our City.

My political philosophy was molded by the influence of my parents who both grew up during the Great Depression and are part of the Greatest Generation having started their family during World War 2. Fiscal and personal responsibility. They taught the values of education, work, self reliance and resilience. Don't spend more than you earn, study hard, work hard. I am the ninth of their ten children. Of the ten, nine worked and paid their own way to earn college and advanced degrees. Of the nine, 8 became teachers.

Help others who are truly needy- not with a hand out but "hand up." Everyone has a right to have their opinions heard. We don't have to have consensus but we should seek clarity. 

The position of Manhattan Beach Councilmemeber is traditionally non-partisan. You are elected to serve all the residents of the city regardless of their party affilication. I adhere strictly to this philosophy. A Manhattan Beach Councilmember should focus all their energy on serving all our residents equally, not reaching for higher office. 

I am open and transparent. As a hobby, I have written over 70 columns for the Daily Breeze. I have them all posted on my website. Please take the time to read them to learn more about the values and philosophies I hold dear which will help me serve as an effective, compassionate City Councilmember.

I attended Pacific Elementary School, MBI, MCHS, USC, and the Arthur A Dugoni UOP Shcool of Dentistry.  I am a fourth generation MB resident.  My great grandmother was one of the founders of the wonderful Neptunian Women's Club, my Great Uncle was the Chief of Police.  My Uncle is a 50 year Rotarian.  My Grandfather Claude owned three Chevron Service Stations in town, and my father was a dentist like me for over 50 years.  For the past 10 years I have been running the practice that I bought from my father.  There is a long tradition of service in my family, and I'm ready to step up and help keep Manhattan Beach safe from those who would mean to do it harm for their own financial game. 

I have neither asked for nor accepted any monetary donations of any kind.  I am in this only for Manhattan Beach.  This is not something I'm doing simply because I have free time.  There is no real chance for personal enrichment out of this.  I am doing this because I care about the city I live in, grew up in, and my family will continue to live in for generations to come.  That is why I feel that, at a major turning point in our cities history, it's important to have someone who understands as well as anyone our way of life, and will fight dilligenly to keep what we hold dear. 

Since moving to MB in 2014, I have been fully committed to giving back to our special little community.  I joined Neighborhood Watch and became a Block Captain. I now serve as the Area Coordinator for El Porto.  I have served on the Boards of Directors of the Residents Association, the Conservacy and Leadership MB.  I recently started volunteering with the Botanical Garden and served as a mentor in the Chamber of Commerce's Young Entrepreneur Program.  Now, I would like to set my skills and experience at the service of our city.
