Biography

While growing up in Clovis, I learned the importance of hard-work, protecting our tax dollars and supporting local businesses while working for my parent's restaurant in Old Town Clovis. 

 

I am a lifelong resident of Clovis and a product of Clovis Unified Schools. I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Management and Organizational Development at Fresno Pacific University and a Masters of Arts Degree in Public Administration from National University. I retired from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office as a Captain after 30 years of service. I continue to protect the citizens of Fresno County as the Police Chief for State Center Community College District Police Department. I have been a public servant for 40 years.

 

I was first elected to the Clovis City Council in 1999.  I have twenty years of experience on the Clovis City Council. During that time, I have served twice as Clovis' Mayor and have represented Clovis on many Boards and Committees. I have been married to Shelley Salazar-Flores for 28 years.  She and I have two sons; Joe and Miguel, and a daughter; Milena.  I have one grandson, Joe.
