Candidate Statement

Summary

Serving you as a City Council Member for 16 years, of which 4 as your Mayor, has been an honor. I’ve had the privilege to help guide our City through a period of rebuilding and some difficult economic times.

I’ve worked hard to ensure we continue to move Cloverdale in the right direction.  It is essential that Cloverdale continues to focus on its financial stability. Now, years after the recession Cloverdale is finally starting to see revenues outpacing expenses. We must look to our natural resources to build our revenues. Tourism is a clean industry, in addition to sales tax it generates Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT). This tax goes directly to the city coffers, not shared with the County or State.

I have a proven track record of leadership with integrity and vision. We as a Council must control our growth in a way that reflects the vision of our community, which is not to become a Healdsburg. We need smart growth while preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of Cloverdale, while maintaining its affordability for Cloverdalens.

As a Vietnam veteran and concerned citizen, I would like to once again serve you as a member of our City Council.
