California is on the wrong path. The only solutions our legislators and Governor have, to solve our problems, is to more taxes. Our state, counties, cities, and school districts have more than $1.3 Trillion in debt and want to add more. In the name of fairness and equality; our elected officials continue to charge forward with sales taxes just shy of 10%, income tax rates that exceed 13%, transfer taxes, recording taxes, parcel taxes, and on and on. The Board of Equalization was established in 1879 to ensure fair and equal taxation and its authority was stripped out by more than 90% last year in favor of two new departments run by state employees to collect taxes and handle disputes. The Governor has appointed executive teams to run these new departments. All of this drastically reduces the authority of the Board of Equalization to be independent tax advocates for Californians. The BOE is left with limited property tax oversight. Prop 13, the backbone of our property tax system, is under constant attack. If our current politicians had their way; Prop 13 would be abolished and families, seniors, disabled individuals, and essentially every homeowner in the state would be subject to unaffordable tax increases. This all needs to stop and Californians need to take back control of their government and reckless spending. It is time to elect candidates like myself that will put California back on the right path.
