I retired from Delta College after thirty-one years as an Englsh professor. I was a member of the Academic Senate almost from my first day on campus when my division dean told me I would be the division's representative to the Academic Senate. My last six years at Delta College I was the Academic Senate President. That experience gave me the chance to work with administration, Board of Trustees, faculty, but most importantly, with students to represent them.
I taught at East Union High School, Manteca Unified School District, before working at Delta College. There I was also involved in school governance. I was the first Curriculum Committee President for the District and worked extensively on curriculum.
In both districts I was recognized for my hard work and dedication to students by being awarded Outstanding District Teacher in Manteca and Distinguished Faculty at San Joaquin Delta College. This same dedication and work ethic I will bring to my work on the Board of Trustees.
My husband and I are both retired educators who have given many years of service to this county. We are the parents of two sons, both of whom attended local public schools and are now professionals. Our older son is an architect and our youngest son is a high school English teacher.
