My Top 3 Priorities

  • PUBLIC SAFETY, ROAD & INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS - Public safety and road improvements remain a top priority - I'm proud to be endorsed by local police officers, our firefighters, deputy sheriffs, CHP and emergency personnel.
  • WATER QUALITY & DEFEATING THE TWIN TUNNELS PROPOSAL - Keeping our drinking water clean and fighting the tunnels that would devastate the DELTA and our environment are a major concern of mine.
  • SUPPORTING VETERANS & DISABLED PERSONS, SCRUTINIZING THE SPENDING OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS remains a top priority for me.

Experience

Biography

I am a thoughtful public servant who makes decisions based on merit. Representing Contra Costa, Solano and Sacramento Counties in the California State Assembly is my greatest honor.

As Chair of Assembly Transportation Committee, I fought for $5 billion annually to improve our aging roads, highways, bridges and railways – requiring accountability for every dollar spent. I opposed the initiative to increase Bay Area bridge tolls. The California Transportation Foundation awarded me Elected Official of the Year.

Public safety and fire protection remain my top priorities. I am proudly endorsed by our police, firefighters and emergency personnel. I scrutinize every proposal that would affect your tax dollars. Other accomplishments that make me proud:

Women’s Commission – Working alongside area women to establish our first Commission for Women and Girls; Domestic Violence – Authoring legislation to add instruction on early detection of domestic violence to school curriculums, rating 97% in votes benefiting children; Prescription Drugs – Supporting a new law requiring drug makers to give 90-day notice before raising prices; Veterans – Authoring laws to recognize Veterans on drivers’ licenses, protect overseas military voting rights and college benefits – earning me AMVETS Legislator of the Year; The Delta – Strongly opposing any plan to build tunnels to send water to Southern California.

I am here to serve you - whether it’s organizing Senior Scam Stopper workshops, free child safety seat inspections, participating in neighborhood clean ups, hosting small business seminars, or being “Teacher for a Day”. I would be honored to earn your vote.
