My Top 3 Priorities

  • Improve educational opportunities for all students. Listen to fellow parents.
  • Fiscal responsibility. Support teachers of SLCUSD.
  • To promote better services to a ranging diversity of students. I have worked with at-risk populations with and without achievement gaps and am mindful of students who excel academically and need to be challenged.

Biography

I am a credentialed school teacher, counselor and administrator for the state of California. I have served schools in all of these roles. I am a mother of two incredible children that currently attend SLCUSD. I am a wife and business partner to my husband of 17 years. I am involved in my children's academic, athletic, volunteer and social activities.  My training allows me to see educational programs through a lens of an educator with the expectations of a parent. I want the best programs and most academically challenging offerings for my children and their peers. I am a Cal Poly, "Learn By Doing" graduate. I believe that my perspective as a current parent, my relative youth, second language abilities (fluent in Spanish) and diversity would bring another perspective to the school board table that would benefit a diverse student population. While I am different from the other candidates and board members in these ways, I am also a strong advocate for rigor in academics. I want to better support the district for a top-notch, first-rate education for the children of San Luis Coastal Unified School District.

Political Philosophy

“Upon the subject of education, not presuming to dictate any plan or system respecting it, I can only say that I view it as the most important subject which we as a people can be engaged in.”

Abraham Lincoln
