Biography

I am a California Registered Professional Forester (RPF#2221) with over 40 years of experience in forest fire and resource management. I earned a Bachelors of Science in Forest Resource Management from UC Berkeley in 1974 and served in public service with the US Forest Service until 2014. 

From 1974 -1994 I served as a forester and firefighter responsible for planning and implementing forest vegetation and forest fuel management activities in Northern California.  I served as a wildland firefighter, fire engine operator, enginge and crew strike team leader and  member of a wildland fire Type II Incident Command Team. I also volunteered as a member of the Klamath River and South Yreka Volunteer Fire Departments. 

From 1994 -2014 I managed the US Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region (CA) Forest Community Economic Development, Woody Biomass Utilization and supported Statewide Forest Community Wildfire Protection Programs. 

I partnered with Cal Fire, State Forester staff, Partner agencies, community leaders to support forest health management, wildland fire risk reduction, forest health and resiliency to climate change.  

I have extensive fiscal and management experience and am known for my professionalism, integrity, interpersonal skills in working effectively with community, non profit, local, state and federal partners working towards achieveing forest and community health and safety.
