My Top 3 Priorities

  • Economic Development: Isn't it time we work with private business to bring jobs to Stockton?
  • Education: Isn't it time we supplement youth education with trades programs that earn family wages?
  • Crime: Isn't it time we competitively pay our police force for their work, while hiring more officers and bringing back substations?

Biography

J.R. Guillory is a disabled Veteran and student of law. He grew up in the Acadiana region of South Louisiana and enlisted into the United States Marine Corps at age 17, upon graduating high school. J.R. served 4 years active duty and 3 years in the Marine Corps Reserves.

He met his wife Michelle, a Stockton native, while he was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. They have two sons, Julian(4) and Oliver(infant).

The couple moved to Stockton in 2013 because they wanted to raise their son in a small community. As J.R. worked towards efforts of community progress, he soon realized the potential the city has to offer. He started a business, but was more attracted to the political scene at the time.

Since that first meeting, J.R. has been active in topics from economic development to ordinances reducing development fees. J.R.'s vision enforces the idea that Stockton has great potential, but our elected officials are not focusing on growth.

J.R. Guillory is the premiere candidate who has been advocating within the Council Chambers with one goal in mind- GENUINE CHANGE for our beautiful City.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I base my political philoshopy of Genuine Change on the following principles:

Mission accomplishment:

Tax, spend and tax again must stop. We owe residents more than excuses when we ask for their vote. Its time we bring solutions to decades-old problems in Stockton.

Independence:

I know alliances have to be made to get what's needed done, but in no way will I compromise my fudiciary duty to residents and put my own interests before theirs.

Initiative:

Taking action on policy that needs to end.

Community engagement:

I want to make City Hall work for residents and empower an electorate that seeks Genuine Change.
