Altie Holcomb was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is the oldest of six children. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
During his 20 years of active military service, Altie deployed to the Gulf War and the Iraq War. Throughout his career, he was assigned to a variety of aviation, ground support and combat service support units. He was commissioned as a Marine officer in May 1999 and served as a Logistics Officer, Company Commander and Detachment Commander while deploying to Iraq in 2003 and 2008 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. His duties included assignments as a supply administration and operations clerk, Team Embarkation Officer for the USS Duluth (LPD-6), and Logistics Plans Officer at U.S. Central Command.
After he retired from the Marine Corps, Altie served as the Senior Marine Corps Junior ROTC instructor at Murrieta Valley High School. As the lead instructor, he instilled leadership, citizenship, personal responsibility, self-discipline and ethics into the lives of over 100 cadets. At Murrieta Valley, he also served as the Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach, during which time the team won two Southwestern League titles. He is currently a District Representative for California state Senator Richard Roth where he handles veterans, public safety, judicial and environmental issues.
Altie attends Cross Word Christian Church in Moreno Valley and is a Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is also a board member of the Military Officers Association of America (Riverside-March Field Chapter), the Vice Chair of the Mt. San Jacinto College Independent Citizens Oversight Committee and serves on the City of Menifee Parks, Recreation and Trails Commission.
Altie is the founding chairman of the Riverside Area Veterans Expo, which exists to connect veterans and their families with services and information that facilitate successful transition into civilian life. Additionally, he is a member of the Navy League of the Inland Empire and a current member of the California Rifle and Pistol Association, which advocates for the safe and responsible use of firearms.
Altie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from San Diego State University and a Master of Arts degree in Christian Ministry from Wayland Baptist University. He is married to Tracey and has three children, two of whom are currently serving in the U.S. Navy, and two grandsons. He resides in the city of Menifee.
