Biography
Michelle Singleton is a proud wife, mother, and teacher. Michelle lives in Menifee with her husband, Morgan Singleton II, a special education teacher for the Menifee Union School District. Morgan and Michelle welcomed their first child, Morgan “Trey” Singleton III, in December of 2014.
Michelle began taking night classes at Mt. San Jacinto College her junior year of high school. Enthralled with the fields of criminal justice and the humanities, she graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Social and Behavioral Science and in Liberal Arts. She then transferred to California State University, Monterey Bay and subsequently earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social and Behavioral Science with a concentration in social history. During her tenure at CSUMB, Michelle became politically active, particularly after working on a local measure campaign in a special countywide election in 2003. Through the campaign, Michelle became more acutely aware of the health care crisis facing the state. While Measure Q was narrowly defeated, the experience prompted Michelle to become more involved in community concerns around accessibility to healthcare and with local politics.
Inspired to empower others, she decided to enter into the teaching profession. Michelle attended San Diego State University and earned a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Science. Shortly after earning her credential, she accepted a job offer at Nuview Bridge Early College High School in the Nuview Union School District. Nuview Bridge matched her own personal philosophy about education -using the public school system to create innovative thinkers, involved citizens, and engaged learners by preparing underrepresented students for college and career readiness through selectively tailored programs and support systems.
In her eleven years of service, Michelle has taught U.S. History, Government, Economics, World History, AVID, and Leadership. Additionally, she has served as the school’s advisor for Associated Student Body (ASB), California Scholarship Federation (CSF), and National Honors Society (NHS). She has been elected twice to the site Advisory Council. She also serves on the high school’s Quest Committee, which has designed and implemented a school-wide program dedicated to student discovery, collaboration, and innovation. Additionally, she has been selected by her peers as Teacher of the Year in 2009, 2013, and 2016.

Political Philosophy
As a teacher and mother, the instinctual need to protect runs deep through my soul. November of 2016 left me in a state where I no longer felt apt to protect my students and family through traditional means. After the fallout of the election, I actively began looking for a way to help. After a gentle plea from a student whose mother is a Dreamer, a call from local political leaders in the community, and encouragement from my husband, it became clear that a seat in the state legislature was the most effective way for me to continue providing protections and opportunities for my family, students, and neighbors. I am running for state assembly in California’s 67th assembly district because I want to take the concerns and needs of the district to the state capitol on behalf of working families and the most vulnerable in our community. It is time for Riverside County to get its fair share!
