My Top 3 Priorities

  • There is a huge amount of construction going on at Southwestern College. I want to use my municipal experience to see to it that this construction is well managed, student centered, and transparent to the public
  • Southwestern College will be hiring a new Superintendent in the next few months. I have the experience and sound judgment to contribute powerfully to this process of hiring a new Superintendent.
  • Students should be excited every time they step on campus and should feel that the campus is a second home where they can lounge, dream, and plan. I'm running to make SWCC a spark of creativity and growth.

Biography

I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1976. I moved to Coronado in 1983 and attended Coronado public schools from 2nd-12th grades. My parents both reside in Coronado. My Dad is a retired Navy SEAL and my Mom is a retired nurse and preschool assistant. My older sister is a graduate of Southwestern College who went on to graduate from SFSU as an undergrad and USF as a Grad student. My younger brother is a gardener in Coronado and works twice as hard, day in and day out, than his mayoral brother :-)

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I have served on the Coronado City Council for the past 14 years and I have led the Council as its Mayor for the past 8 years. I have concurrently been teaching AP US History at Coronado High School, full-time, for the past 17, going on 18 years.

My philosophy is to embrace George Washington's call in 1797 to avoid political parties and to instead embrace serving all segments of the public. If elected, I will ignore partisan politics and will focus on balancing the needs of students, taxpayers, and employees. I am endorsed by no political parties or unions. I will be devoted to the needs of my constituents and the many people who depend on SWCC for their pursuit of the American dream.
