Summary
COMMUNICATING THE NEED FOR INVOLVEMENT BY PARENTS, COMMUNITY AND STUDENTS IN FULFILLING THEIR EDUCATIONAL NEEDS, AND FOCUSING ON STUDENT SUCCESS AND RETENTION . ADVANCE THE MISSION, VISION, GOALS AND LEADERSHIP FOR SUCCESS, ESTABLISH A GOOD RAPPORT WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS.
My goal for Delta Community College is to communicate the need for involvement of parents and students in fundraising for their educational needs.
We all are aware there is a budget shortfall in the State regarding resources to fund classes,: Delta College teachers salaries, books, supplies health benefits for all, and the tax paying citizens of our diverse community who are seeking to complete their education and expand their career choices.
Resources are in short supply, and we should be aware of how we spend or how we are wasting valuable dollars on certain projects or funding of events that do not produce positive results or returns for Delta College. The community should be seeking input into Delta College, and how it can help to increase the flow of finances into its coffers to support our students, rather than as a bank or cash cow to draw from as it has been in the past.
Another important issue that is troubling is an increase in crime on the campus involving the trespassing of non-students. We need to increase our police department.
ENJOYING THE JOURNEY
Summary
The "Community" in community college is an integration of vision, mission, goals for mutual benefits for future generations. The community colleges addresses the whole child, not just the academics.
We are but one entity in a student's life circle, ie, church, industries, career centers, human as well as economic development in preparing a student for career choices. A community can flourish if we have an educated workforce to build upon, and our colleges are tied to the local economy through civic organization, as well as other public public agencies that influence how we live.
We can make our community college work for us if we can meet the challenges that diversity brings. Delta College has a tremendous diverse, and an incredible multicultural population in attendance. We musst also, begin to have a dialogue around racial disparities and how to make this challenge work for our mutual benefit.

I believe that higher education is very important to our community. I believe that students should be heard. I believe that working with Foster agencies and other's like it is an excellent opportunity to engage the at risk youth on the importance of an Education. They need to have classes available to them so they can begin there furture. I believe we need to reach out and listen to the community about ideas or concerns. Working closley with The Stockton P.D and the County Sheriff's Department to improve community realtions. LeJames wants to increase class availabilty to address the low numbers of full time students (FTES). LeJames wants to help make SJDC the model for all other community colleges across the U.S. I want to be in a position to do some good for our community. Though I am running for Area 1, I want to represent all of the SJDC communities.
