Statement by Brigid O’Farrell

The “Strong Dems Slate” represents Democratic voters across District 3. We ensure continued local representation for the coastside as well as for the entire District 3 population, approximately 80% of which is located “over the hill” from the coast.  We ask for your vote in the June 7 Primary.

The mission of the SMCDCC is to develop and maintain ongoing support for Democratic candidates and issues by working with elected officials, clubs, coalition partners, and advocates. Each slate member is actively involved with endorsements, resolutions, phone banking, voter registration, precinct walking, fundraising, and California State Democratic Party business.

We know that coastside Democrats are concerned with a wide range of issues including health care, education, housing, jobs, traffic, parks, and the environment. As the incumbent coastside member for the past six years, I have raised these and other issues at SMCDCC meetings and events, as well as through club reports, resolutions, the endorsement process, and other coastside activities including joint efforts with the Pacifica-Daly City Democrats.  For example, I authored a resolution in support of the US Postal Service and USPS workers from the club level to adoption by the full California State Democratic Convention.

For five years as President of the Coastside Democrats Club, I focused on expanding the Club to include the full range of Democratic supporters and views.  We organized events for many candidates and elected officials to discuss issues with constituents, and included guests such as Senator Russ Feingold from Wisconsin to discuss campaign finance reform. During my tenure we registered over 1,000 voters.

Our slate works collaboratively with elected officials and has been endorsed by Congresswoman Jackie Speier, Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, State Senator Jerry Hill, Assemblyman Kevin Mullin, and Supervisor Don Horsley.
