Biography

Over the past 16 years, I have served the Democratic Party in a variety of ways. At different times I have served as Chair of the San Mateo County Democratic Central Commiteee (SMCDCC) Endorsements Committee, as Northern Vice Chair, and, for six years, as Chair. Having stepped down as Chair in 2015, I now serve as Immediate Past Chair and on the Executive Board.

As a dedicated SMCDCC activist I have also served as a delegate to the California Democratic Party (CDP) since 2000 and served a term on the CDP Rules Committee from 2013-2015.

It has been my distinct honor to help build the Democratic Party in San Mateo County and elect and re-elect outstanding local leaders over the past 16 years.

As Chair of the Central Committee I helped to modernize our communications tools including web, email, and social media improvements. For the past 10 years, I have personally developed our slate mail program in support of local, state, and federal candidates, sending over 24,000 slates to local Democratic Party voters this past election alone.

Throughout my years of service, I have helped or overseen every coordinated campaign headquarters since 2000. In that time, I served as a campaign manager and, as Chair, was responsible for setting up the coordinated campaign by renting headquarters, hiring staff, connecting utilities, and doing all of the infrastructural work of setting up a functioning headquarters—sometimes including having to fix the plumbing.

When I stepped down as Chair I turned over to my successor an organization that was at the peak of its operation with new communications tools, newly contracted professional support for our back office, numerous active and engaged members whom I personally recruited and mentored and, most importantly, an organization in outstanding financial condition.

I am now seeking another term so that I can continue to help the SMCDCC support our candidates and keep San Mateo County blue.

I respectfully request your formal endorsement of my candidacy and your support for my election as well.

Again, thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

David Burruto
