I have a depth of experience that is unique and well suited to the role of School Board trustee. As a university professor of Child Studies and Urban Education for the past 25 years I have mentored and formed lifelong bonds with numerous alumni who proudly work as public school teachers, administrators, counselors, child advocates, and allied health professionals all over the Bay Area and beyond.  I am a well-established scholar who studies the interface of K-12 students’ critical thinking, motivation, mathematical reasoning, and academic achievement. I apply this expertise to several partnerships with community initiatives aimed at improving workforce development and enhancing educational opportunity for all population groups. For example, I currently partner with a community non-profit and school-based collaborative to implement a values-integrated, thinking and literacy curriculum in summer enrichment programs for 2nd-8th grade students.  My background in large-scale student learning assessment, program evaluation, accreditation and accountability systems, and direct operational and budgetary oversight of a large academic units, affords me a deep understanding and respect for the fiduciary responsibility held by a school board member.
