My Top 3 Priorities

  • School and Student Safety
  • Academic Achievement
  • Fiscal Accountability

Profession:City Treasurer City of Antioch - Retired Bank Sup.
Antioch City Treasurer, City of Antioch (2018–current)
Antioch City Treasurer, City of Antioch (2018–current)
Bank Supervisor, Bank of the West (1986–2012)
Former Mayor CIty of Antioch, Council Member, Antioch City Council — Elected position (1998–2012)

Antioch schools have some of the very best teachers, administrators, and most of all, talented students.

But, as of 2017, Antioch schools met basic, state literacy standards of only 22.35% and basic math standards of 14.19%.  That’s unacceptable. We owe our students better. How can we properly prepare them for a positive future if we continue business as usual?

School safety is paramount. I will promote and lead efforts to ensure our students, teachers and staff a secure and safe campus and business environment.

Financial accountability and responsible management of expenses including realistic energy conservation is essential in maintaining budgets. I have the experience to lead the charge in this effort.

As a lifelong Antioch resident, retired 30-year bank supervisor, 14-year member of the Antioch City Council including four years as Mayor, and having served on school site committees, and numerous other local, regional and statewide boards, commissions and committees, I have the necessary experience, knowledge and ability to effectively serve the students, parents, teachers and staff of the Antioch Unified School District.

I have firsthand knowledge of and understand setting budgets, establishing policies, adhering to state Education Code, negotiating with bargaining units, meeting with teachers, staff and most importantly, students and their parents.

I support parents’ rights to choose educational options including charters schools, private schools and home schooling.

For the benefit of our students, with your vote, together we must and can turn around the performance of the Antioch Unified School District.
