GROSSMONT-CUYAMACA COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT

Governing Board Member – Trustee Area 5

BRAD MONROE

37 Year Community College Professor/Classroom Teacher and Researcher

Due to my extensive classroom teaching experience, I know firsthand what it takes for students to succeed!

I want to ensure community colleges remain affordable, providing college transfer and career training opportunities, especially for our veterans.

As an East County taxpayer, I want to ensure our tax dollars are spent wisely, with transparency and accountability.

My qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Computers in Education, and a Bachelor’s Degree from California State University in Plant Science.

I was the Founding Department Chair of the Ornamental Horticulture program at both Cuyamaca and Southwestern Colleges.

I am committed to green energy wherever possible, and have researched and won awards for solar applications, being inducted into the Green Industry Hall of Fame in 2013.

At Cuyamaca College I was named Faculty Member of the Year, was as the Commencement Speaker in 2012, and served as a member of the Academic Senate and co-chaired the college’s Instructional Council.

I am not a politician seeking higher office. I am a career teacher seeking to ensure our East County students receive the college transfer preparation and workforce training needed to be successful members of our community.

I am endorsed by the American Federation of Teachers and incumbent Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District Board Members.

Please consider voting for me for GCCCD Governing Board because every student deserves the resources to succeed and the support of those that govern.

As a native San Diegan, I have lived 54 years of my life in East County, I am committed to improving and transforming lives through learning.

I have been employed by a major healthcare facility for 24 years as a Credentialing Specialist and I have two incredible daughters and we all graduated from Helix Charter High School. I want to cultivate a student-centered culture of excellence, trust, stewardship and service and to transform lives through learning. Our students deserve diverse learning opportunities that prepare them to meet the community needs, promote global responsibility and foster opportunities for All.

Responsible leadership and transparency is what I will provide and students deserve pathways to complete their educational goals for a lifetime of success. I believe in our students and our community and I hope you will join me as I work to make sure both are fully represented.
