Biography
With your support, I will represent Ramona on the Community Planning Group; reflecting Ramona’s desire to remain a model of rural living in the center of the county.
The issues impacting Ramona’s future deserve action; our family created a safety campaign, the “67 & 78 - Slow for Ramona” bumper stickers. Our rural highways and roads are the only routes to schools, businesses, wineries, recreation and, unfortunately, wildfire evacuation.
A long time Ramona resident, I am a member of the Planning Group’s West Subcommittee, Co-Founder of the SR 67 Safety Project, member of the Ramona Trails Association and the Ramona Stars 4-H Club. I advocate for Foster-to-Adopt Children and volunteer with the International Rescue Committee. Our son is a Mountain Valley Academy student who plays soccer with the Ramona Recreational Soccer League and basketball with the Ramona Recreational Basketball League. Contributing through community service is one of our family values.
Political Beliefs
Most folks want a rural Ramona and so do I. The achievement of this ideal is as unique as each resident of Ramona. We care about the establishment and maintenance of the open spaces necessary to ride, bike and hike. We care about our neighbors and respect their privacy and individual rights. We care about our community's safety; wildfires, roads, and law enforcement. We care about development. Land use planning, including road access, reflects our choice of a rural life style. We care about local businesses, we need to support them at the cash register and with a Ramona Village plan that attracts residents and visitors alike. However you envision and live your life in Ramona, it is a direct result of keeping Ramona rural. I support a rural Ramona.

I am a Ramona resident, raising a family and being active in the community. Where I work, live and play. Some have described me as a “jack of all trades”. My family and I enjoy the “Ramona feel”, where we plan to stay for many years to come. I am active in the rural lifestyle that Ramona has to offer.
I am seeking a seat in the RCPG so I can be more involved with my community. I strive to be more involved with the future of Ramona. I would like to help keep the “Ramona feel” in Ramona. Thank you for the consideration, and allowing me to represent the community of Ramona.

Retired Small Businessman / Paramedic
I am running for the Planning Group to add the perspective of a Christian, conservative, businessman, and retired paramedic, to the decision-making process impacting Ramona’s future. As a thirty-year resident and property owner in Ramona, my goal is to balance environmental concerns with a defense of private property rights as provided by our Constitution.
Ramona is primarily a rural community, and I believe most Ramona residents want to keep it that way. Growth must be controlled by the ability of our utilities and services to absorb it. We simply cannot outgrow our space and capabilities.
The designation of Ramona as a viticultural region is a welcome and exciting addition to our economy. We share a similar altitude and climate with other successful grape-growing regions that flourish in southern California. Ramona residents and taxpayers, should welcome this growing industry with open arms.
Finally, I grew up in San Diego, but chose to live in Ramona. The community had a small-town charm that still exists today. Horses, cattle, wineries, churches, and those wonderful eucalyptus trees provide Ramona with an atmosphere that I fully intend to maintain. Thanks for listening and I would appreciate your vote.

Professional Land Surveyor
I am a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of California and Nevada, with over 17 years of experience performing land use planning, surveying and development services. I am a Principal at BWE, an Engineering and Surveying Company in San Diego. I have extensive knowledge and working relationships with the County of San Diego Building and Planning Departments. I have been a resident of Ramona for 6 years, purposely moving “up the hill” from Carmel Mountain because of our great community and rural lifestyle. I am currently involved in the community, serving as a the PTSA President at Ramona Community Campus, a youth soccer coach at the Ramona Boys and Girls Club, and a Board Member for Intermountain Fire Safe Council.
I believe in responsible growth for our community, focused on impacts within the community at large and its intent to remain rooted in a country lifestyle and family friendly environment. My goals once elected will be to champion additional equestrian trails, fire protection and safety measures, sustainable housing, efficient transportation projects, parks and recreational enhancements, including the construction of our Skate Park, and bringing in sustainable businesses that contribute to the overall welfare and progress our community

Retired Educator/Incumbent
My family moved to Ramona in 1971. I taught school in the community and our four children graduated from Ramona High School. We were actively involved in numerous youth activities; Little League, 4-H, Future Farmers of America (FFA), Del Mar Fair/Ramona Country Fair, college tours and equine competitions.
Our family continues to live in and support Ramona. I have written grants for Ramona Senior Citizen Board and was a founding member of Citizens for a Rural Ramona (CFARR). I currently chair a scholarship program awarding graduating seniors from Julian, Ramona and Warner Springs college funding.
I have served on the Ramona Community Planning Group (RCPG) for the past four years. I have been an advocate of local control and the citizens’ rights to be fully represented. I support the Santa Maria Creek Greenway and the preservation of land zoned for agriculture. I do not support cell phone towers in residential areas or marijuana dispensary facilities in Ramona. We know that growth is inevitable so the protection of our rural lifestyle is important in regard to high density housing commercial projects.
It is necessary to be well-versed on issues that concern us; I welcome all communication and earnestly wish to represent you well.
