I am a life long resident of Castro Valley and life long Democrate. I am a retired Nuclear Medicne/Ultrasound technolgist and while working I was a member of ILWU and served as Shop Steward. I have been on the Eden Health District Board for 2 terms and am currently seeking Director for Castro Valley/Fairview area 3. During the pandemic I worked on the frontlines at Cal State East Bay along with the Hayward Fire Department testing and educating the community on COVID-19. The District was able to obtain KN95 masks that were distributed to hospital and service workers in our area. The year the District is able to give $300,000.00 in grants to local organiztions that support the Districts mission.

My family consists of a husband, 3 grown boys and 2 grandchildren. I spent 15 years volunteering with the Nation Ski Patrol System in the Sierra's and still enjoy skiing. Our summers are mostly spent camping and enjoying Lake Tahoe.

The Eden Health District's assests are the public's assests and must be spent wisely and carfully to preserve our corpus funds. These funds are to help the underserved areas of our community for better health outcomes. It's much better keeping folks healthy than supplying more hospital beds for the ill. The District has been providing support to hospital and other community based organizations that provide direct and indirect health related services. It does this without collecting any taxes from District residents.

Director Gordon Galvan has been a government and community relations

consultant for more than twenty years. His diverse business background includes

his consulting practice as well as commercial and residential real estate holdings.

Gordon served as President of the Davis Street Family Resource Center for eight

years and was instrumental in launching the first federally qualified healthcare

clinic in San Leandro. He served as Vice Mayor for the City of San Leandro and

was elected to the San Leandro City Council for two terms. Gordon also has a long

history of volunteering and raising funds for many non-profit organizations. He

currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Alameda County Fair

Association.

As both a business owner and former elected official, Gordon has an in-depth

understanding of the needs and motivations of both sides in these often-complex

negotiations. His longstanding personal relationships with elected and appointed

officials and staff throughout Northern California has served him well when

advocating for and representing the Eden Healthcare District and its residents.

Gordon is the proud father of six children. He and his wife, Roseann, live with

their children and quirky German Shepherd, Beara, in Castro Valley. In his spare

time, Gordon enjoys traveling, enjoying great restaurants and rooting for his

beloved San Francisco Giants.

My political philosophy is to provide the best quality of care for the best price.  I will fight for the people of Castro Valley to ensure that they are getting their monies worth out of the Eden Healthcare District.  Spending our resources wisely and serving the community are my top priorities.
