Treva is an overcomer, a resilient single mother and community builder. She was raised in a family of educators, entrepreneurs, civil servants, and laborers with a deep respect for hard work. Treva’s passion to serve stems from growing up in a large civically-engaged family where her great-grandmother’s political activism  informed their values. 

As a young single mother in college working multiple jobs, she leveraged strengths from her upbringing to provide for her daughter and graduate from Hampton University.

Treva has a tenacious determination to overcome seemingly impossible situations. Her personal experience with childhood trauma, gun violence, intimate partner abuse, poverty and housing instability motivates her passion to fight for justice.  The issues we face in Oakland are not just policy concerns for Treva – they are personal.  

As a senior aide to Assemblymember (now State Senator) Nancy Skinner, Treva advocated for affordable housing policies, gun violence prevention, job training programs, legislation for incarcerated and formerly-incarcerated individuals, and other critical efforts for Oakland residents.  She’s the only candidate for mayor with experience working on issues facing Oakland at the State level.

Since she was elected to the Oakland City Council in late 2020, Treva has held to her promise to tirelessly work to move East Oakland forward, championing the priorities of her community. She helped to activate the Oakland Coliseum in East Oakland as one of two national pilot COVID-19 mass vaccination sites and secured deeper investments for violence prevention programs, workforce development services, and critical health and safety resources in the City budget. Treva has also spearheaded many community beautification efforts with East Oakland neighbors.  

Beyond passion, Treva has the leadership skills, policy expertise and  financial background to regain and sustain the financial footing necessary to protect all Oakland residents, and prioritize those who have experienced poverty, disparities, and cycles of inequity.

A lifelong Democrat, Treva served as an Associate for California Assembly District 18 on the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee, is an Emerge California Alumna, an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and state policy advisor for Black Women Organized for Political Action (BWOPA). She is also a ministry leader at Shiloh Church in Oakland and engaged in numerous community partnerships.

Oakland desperately needs a passionate, strong, and equity-driven leader.  A leader who can break through barriers in City Hall to hear from, respond to and deliver for Oaklanders now. Treva's heart is for Oakland, and her life experiences have fueled her fight to ensure all residents can live safely and securely—rooted in Oakland—from one generation to the next. 

As Oakland’s next mayor, Treva will work tirelessly to address homelessness, end gun violence, increase public safety all across Oakland, ensure housing stability, grow small businesses, advance racial equity, and create economic opportunity for all Oaklanders to recover and thrive.

Gregory Hodge is a social change activist and organizational development consultant with Khepera Consulting. Working as a strategist, meeting designer, racial equity trainer, facilitator and coach, Gregory works with a range of groups from small non-profits and foundations to public agencies, particularly school districts and foundations. Greg served as the Executive Director for the Executives’ Alliance for Boys and Men of Color and as the Chief Network Officer for the Oakland-based Brotherhood of Elders Network. He is a coordinating partner in designing the Healing Generations Institute with the National Compadres Network. 

His clients include the Association of Black Foundation Executives, The California Endowment and Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation. As a leader in his community, Gregory served two four-year terms as a member of the Oakland Unified School District Board of Education beginning in January 2000, including a year as president of the board. Greg is a Fulbright-Hayes Fellow, recipient of the Gerbode Fellowship and board chair of the Rockwood Leadership Institute. He is a proud father of five, active gardener and lives in Oakland, California.

City Council President Pro Tem Sheng Thao is a barrier breaking Councilmember and one of our most creative, substantive, and effective leaders on housing, homelessness, and public safety. She’s known for her inspiring life story of perseverance and her unwavering commitment to standing up for those without a voice. Now, Sheng Thao is ready to lead our city as mayor—because Oakland’s time is now.

Sheng grew up in poverty, the 7th of 10 kids. Her parents met in a refugee camp in Thailand after each fled their home country of Laos and the genocide against the Hmong people. Sheng’s mom, widowed and eight months pregnant, had been shot in the arm during her escape. Sheng’s dad had helped many other refugees flee across the Mekong River during his journey. Sheng’s parents immigrated to America, settling in Stockton, where they would make a living farming vegetables. It was here Sheng was born.

As a kid, Sheng’s family was often on social services. For a time, they lived in public housing. Sheng grew up with the very real fear of not having a stable home, so she understands what so many families worry about every day. Sheng got her first job at 16, and left home at 17. In her early 20s, she found herself in an abusive relationship, isolated from family—and pregnant. Sheng was able to escape this domestic violence, but soon had a baby and nowhere to go. For months, Sheng and her son, Ben slept on strangers’ couches, and sometimes in her car.

When Ben was 10 months old, Sheng got a job at Merritt College, and also started taking classes. And, with the help of welfare, and a Head Start program for Ben, she put herself through school. She became class Valedictorian, then transferred to UC Berkeley, where she co-founded a food access program for low-income students and graduated with a degree in legal studies.

Finding her calling in public service, Sheng joined the office of Oakland’s Councilmember At-Large, which represents the entire city, and worked her way up to Chief of Staff. In that role, Sheng helped manage multiple City budgets, fought for affordable housing, helped small businesses open, worked to get guns off our streets, and fought for cleaner air and water. Sheng knew she could do even more as an elected official herself. So she ran for City Council District 4 and won, becoming the first Hmong-American woman Councilmember in California history. As a Councilmember, Sheng helped bring the Council together, change the tone at City Hall, and finally break through years of gridlock to make progress on critical issues.

In each role she takes on, Sheng’s colleagues elevate her into leadership positions. She’s currently Council President Pro Tem and chairs the Rules and Legislation Committee. Sheng received the 2021 Powerful Women of the Bay Award for her work on behalf of Oakland’s diverse neighborhoods, and has been honored by the Alameda Labor Council for her record of delivering for working families. Sheng is also recent past President of the League of California Cities API Caucus, and has served on boards for the Redwood Heights Association and Oakland Asian Cultural Center. Recently, Sheng authored legislation to make Oakland the first CA abortion rights sanctuary city and brought together big and small business, organized labor, community and elected leaders, to unite around one progressive business tax proposal, from multiple proposals, to create much needed revenue for Oakland.  She will bring 

Sheng lives near Joaquin Miller Park with her partner, Andre, 15-year old son, Ben, their 8-year old daughter, Brooklyn and lively beagle, Shiloh. Ben and Brooklyn attend public schools, where Ben plays incredible cello. 

As the current District 4 Oakland City Councilmember and Council President Pro Tem, Sheng Thao is motivated to fight for creative, substantive, and effective solutions to the major problems facing Oakland, in particular: housing, homelessness, and an improved quality of life. Sheng is the daughter of refugees - her parents came to America to escape the genocide in Laos against the Hmong people. She grew up in poverty in Stockton, California, the 7th of 10 children and her family depended on public housing and social services. Sheng came to public service, having seen the impact that policy had on her and herfamily and will always fight for working families.   She is a domestic violence survivor, and a graduate of Oakland’s Merritt College and UC Berkeley, which she attended as a single mom to her now 16 year old son, Ben. After Cal, she worked at the City Council for years, working my way up from intern to Chief of Staff for the At-Large Councilmember, before she was elected in 2018.  

Since long before she came into office, she has fought hard and led on critical issues, fighting for an Oakland that works for all of us, not just the wealthy and well-connected. Sheng believes our time is now for a more affordable, safer, cleaner, and greener Oakland that can continue to be a place for working families to thrive and she is the candidate who has the track record to deliver those results.

It has been 10 years since I ended my public service as an Oakland City Council member. I am compelled to run for Mayor because no candidate has my political backbone and municipal experience to lead Oakland out of the crime siege ripping through our community. Every resident has been affected by crime and like the pandemic it is devastating our vulnerable neighborhoods.  Street encampments, human trafficking, robberies, burglaries, shootings, homicides, sideshows and blight are out of control. City Hall has failed Oakland. We need to get back to quality-of-life basics, accountability, and reopen City Hall to residents so we can see and hear your concerns. Affordable housing, beautiful parks, vibrant senior and recreation centers, quality libraires, good roads, clean streets, and most of all, funding police services will be my priorities as your Mayor. I will take care of the basics so all Oaklander's can thrive and do their best for the city.

Wants Oaklanders to be rich and prosperous, drawing inspiration from role models rapper Future and Elon Musk, multiple baby mamas. Liu featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2014 talking about his Community Empowered Safety Plan, includes teaching people how to be rich the legal way with his get rich quick scheme #CESP5 known worldwide. Liu arrested for protecting own real estate commercial property, held squatters at gunpoint nighttime. Alameda County DA didn't charge cuz I am FAMOUS. There should be no arrests on property owners nor good Samaritans defending life and/or real property.

Fishing should be allowed at Lake Merritt, it is better than having it killed by algae blooms.

To avoid abortion, for women who don't want to raise children, they should be allowed auction off their baby at birthplace Hospital for $100K to $2M to adoptive parent(s) or biological father at (1/2) bid advantage.

Prostitution should be legalized worldwide, sexual freedom is a natural right.  Think of all the widower/single senior men in their 70s, 80s, they need sex too.

Concealed carry weapon is a consitutional right that is being restricted by unjust unconstitutional ordinances/statutes.

World Peace is obstainable if leaders of the world adopts Liu's 

1. New police chief will readily issue conceal carry permit to lawful city business owners, their workers or residents age 21+ who have clean background - Reality is the police canʼt protect them neither in peacetime nor a riot.
2. For every person caught with an illegal gun (stolen, serial scratched off, ineligible felon, etc.) obtain search warrants ASAP for their residences to get more illegal guns, find fingerprints on those guns, match in FBI databases for suspect straw purchasers for more potential arrests.
3. Install mandatory surveillance in medium and high crime areas. Surveillance footage will be accessible real time via internet to lawful city residents with login and password.
4. New policing strategy involve more community participation. Each officer will setup and advise a neighborhood watch that has about 7 to 25 volunteer members led by a team leader voted by the members. They will meet once a month to discuss issues affecting the neighborhood and the officer will be present as needed to give advice. Once the city declares an emergency, all neighborhood volunteers will be notified to prepare for best course of action to protect themselves or neighborhood which includes evacuation orders.
5. Start a business center to teach small businesses entrepreneurship to city residents. “How to brainstorm a business suitable to the individual, how to make a business plan, obtain a business license, market their services or products, etc.”

Allyssa recently defended our democracy by successfully fighting her illegal disqualification from the ballot.Allyssa Victory (born Villanueva) was raised in North Oakland and has since lived in every district of Oakland and overcome homelessness as a youth. Allyssa has devoted her entire career to advocacy on behalf of the public interest and underserved communities starting with clothing and food distribution with her West Oakland church and as a social justice student organizer with Oakland’s Youth Together. Allyssa is a civil rights leader, educator, and licensed attorney serving across the Bay Area and state of California. Allyssa holds a B.A. with honors in Ethnic Studies and minor in Black Studies as well as J.D. concentrated in Government Law. Allyssa currently practices in policing and labor law and is an elected ADEM Delegate for Assembly District 18. Allyssa will be the first Black woman elected to Mayor of Oakland.
